How can I prevent outliving my money?
This is a primary concern for all retirees. There are many things that can erode one's life savings and retirement accounts: taxes, inflation, health care costs, lifestyle choices, etc. These many variables make buying a retirement plan "off the shelf" from some salesperson much too risky! There are ways to strategize and bring security to your future income. Granite specializes in designing custom plans for each couple or individual. In fact, you probably would enjoy receiving a retirement income analysis report given free following an initial visit with one of our professional advisors.

What legal documents do I need for retirement?
Everyone needs to have proper legal documents in place, starting with a will. You will want to leave a legal guideline for your heirs. We also recommend that everyone have a "living package" that includes appropriate powers of attorney, healthcare directives, guardianship assignments and privacy disclosures. In some cases a type of living trust might be appropriate. These documents are not hard to obtain, but getting them fashioned to specifically fulfill your needs and desires takes the help of a professional. Working through our attorneys, clients of Granite have access to creation and implementation of these critical documents.

Am I on the right track?
Retirement means different things to different people. It could mean travel, attaining further education, mentoring someone, consulting part time, playing all the time, volunteering… the list is endless. Sometimes you have to define what retirement means to you before you can know you are on the right track. You'll have a better chance at reaching them if you have a plan in place. Do you have one? Do you have a coach to walk with you through the plan, to help define it, make adjustments when needed, and carry you through it? What ever your dreams are, Granite will help you achieve them.
